Colleagues, Health Care Providers, Friends and Community Volunteers,
The Hands for Health Foundation is planning to co-sponsor with Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine 4 Global Outreach Trips/Clinical Rotations in 2018.
We could use a few hardworking Health Care Providers (HCPs) and Community Volunteers(CVs) to precept/oversee our students and assist with other medical outreach related activities on each trip. Your presence will complete our medical outreach teams. There is however, a limit to the number of HCPS and CVs that we can take on each trip. Please let me know if you are interested in getting additional information on any of the trips below.
Kenya
Team A: January 3-26, 2018
- This is considered a 4 week clinical rotation
- Max 16 students (M3 and M4 only) - 24 total in the team.
- People here speak either English or Swahili.
- Estimated cost$2,500.00 plus airfare
Includes:
- 2 days and 2 nights Tsavo National Park R&R\
- 14 days working in and around Amboselli National Park
- Admission to various sites and Amboselli national park
- All meds and supplies
- Translators
- Breakfast and dinner
- Ground transport in Kenya
- Double occupancy lodging
Team B: January 3-17, 2018
- 7 working days, 1 night at Tsavo National Park
- Estimated cost $1,200.00 plus airfare
Team C: January 14-25/26, 2018
- 7 working days
- Estimated cost $1,200.00 plus airfare
*Airfare to Kenya is estimated at $1,600.00+
Ecuador: February 17-25, 2018
Actual location (coast or rainforest) TBD
- 1 week rotation/outreach
- Work 4 days
- Max 6 upperclassmen
- 10 M1 student physicians
- Estimated cost $1,100.00 plus airfare
Includes:
- Admission to some activites
- Translators
- Breakfast, lunch on workdays, some dinners
- Double occupancy lodging
- All ground transportation
*Airfare to Ecuador estimated at $900+
*Spanish is very helpful, but not necessarily required as translators are needed for the indigenous languages spoken.
Guatemala: March 3-11, 2018
Lake Atitlan Area
- 1 week rotation/outreach
- Work 4 days
- Max 6 upperclassmen
- 10 M2 student physicians
- Estimated cost $1,100.00 plus airfare
Includes:
- All ground and boat transportation
- Double occupancy lodging
- Breakfast, lunch on workdays, some dinners
- Translators
- Meds and supplies
- Tips and admission to some other sites

Nepal: March 21 - April 20th, 2018

Trip may be divided into 2 parts, still in very early phase of planning. Estimated cost unknown at this time.
